Just like the Nexus devices, Motorola devices have always been advanced when it comes to Android updates.
Motorola on Friday released Android 5.1 update for the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition phone in the US. David Schuster, Senior Director, SW Product Management, Motorola Mobility, on his Google+ page announced the software availability. The 2013 version of the Moto X has already begun getting the update in a few select markets from last week.
The Android 5.1 update is a huge 439 MB in size and you need to download it using your WiFi for a smooth and quick installation. The 5.1 update has come with a set of improvements and fixes as expected. Few of those improvements include- The performance of the Moto X will be enhanced with faster application launch times. For dismissing the heads-up notification, you can now swipe it up to remove it from your screen. The notification stays in the notifications tray and you can dismiss it later. Dropdown choices for WiFi and Bluetooth for faster connection and double chop motion to turn on or off the flashlight of the Moto X using the sensors are some of the improvements that will be coming with the 5.1 Android update.
Motorola has been conducting soak tests with several carrier customers for some time and we can assume Moto X 2014 users with carrier editions will not have to wait and soon be getting the Android 5.1 update. Motorola has tried to fix a majority of issues of the Moto X with the latest update. You can follow this link to find out the Android 5.1 release notes from Motorola.
