The mobile consumer today doesn’t bother too much about brands. Sporting a branded flagship smartphone is history now, more and more people are now approaching newer brands which offer the same flagship like features with their phones and at a much cheaper price. Meizu is one such brand which has succeeded in meeting the expectations and won the faith of the consumer. Some of the popular mobile devices from this Chinese brand include- the MX4, MX4 Pro, MX5 and the M1 Note to name a few. The latest inclusion in their product list is the Meizu M2 Note which is a successor to their successful phablet M1 Note and is the one we will be looking at today.
Inspired by the Apple iPhone 5c series just like its predecessor, the Meizu M2 Note certainly in terms of looks and features has what it takes to be a promising phablet. Talking of the design, Meizu has not experimented much with the MEIZU M2 Note and gone with a similar one just like the MEIZU M2 Note. The only change that Meizu has gone with the M2 is the physical home button replacing the capacitive button which comes with the M1 Note. With an R-angle curved design and 8.7mm thickness, the phone weighs about 149 grams and looks like a piece of art.
To fall under the phablet category a device needs to be bigger in terms of size and the MEIZU M2 Note manages to get it right with the 5.5 inch 1080p Full High Definition display. The screen on the phablet is an IGZO display technology developed by the Japanese electronics giant Sharp. The IGZO technology helps in providing a consistent performance and lowers power consumption by the phablet just like Samsung uses the AMOLED technology for its devices. The screen comes with Japan’s Asahi Dragontrail glass protection and the pixel density of 403ppi with 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits of brightness giving a high-quality viewing experience even in low light.
The phablet runs the latest MediaTek 64-bit Octa-Core MT6753 processor under the hood. We did feel a little let down finding out it did not run the popular Snapdragon processor, but the MediaTek processor does a pretty good job and doesn’t disappoint. The 64 bit Mali T720 GPU triple core GPU ensures who get an uninterrupted gaming experience and video playback. Along with the processor comes the very latest 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM which is said to be approximately 50 percent faster than a single LPDDR2 chip thus leading the user to a faster and smooth processing speed. Staying with the hardware, the Meizu M2 Note supports TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G and also comes with two nano SIM slots. The phone has an internal memory of 16 GB which can be expanded up to 128GB using the 2nd SIM slot.
For shutterbugs, Meizu has put on Samsung’s 13 MP CMOS rear camera with dual-tone LED flash which will give you sharp high-quality images with a lot of details. The front camera is 5 MP and lets you click some great selfies.
The Meizu M2 Note has a non-removable 3100mAh battery which Meizu promises to last all day.
